We Believe
What's the Mission of Prince of Peace Church?
Our four word mission statement embraces Jesus' teaching:
Love God and Bless People Jesus distilled the entire Old Testament into a few words: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: `Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." (Matt. 22:37-40 NIV) Jesus also directed us to: "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." (Matt. 28:19-20 NIV) We uphold the priority of personal and public worship. We are training new leaders and preparing teams of people for ministry. We plan to multiply the number of places where Jesus is proclaimed by launching new sites into every community within our reach. We believe... For 20 centuries the Church has held to a core of beliefs considered to be fundamental to Christianity - so do we. It is called The Apostle's Creed. “ I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into the place of the dead. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the universal church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.” |
We follow these Core Values:
We believe that God's Spirit empowers us and His Scriptures guide us. The Bible is the revelation of God to His church and the church has confirmed the value of those writings over the centuries. The Bible reveals all we need for salvation and growth in Christ. We believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior. Our goal is to announce that Jesus is the Prince of Peace and invite all into a vital relationship with Him. We believe that the church is on a mission to proclaim liberty and bring peace. (Luke 4:18-19) We believe in reaching out in love to a hurting world and tearing down the walls of unbelief that separate God and His creation. We believe that the Christian church is the Body of Christ and is His means of restoring man's relationship with God. We believe every Christian is a minister for Christ. We aim to help each member discover their unique gifts and equip them to serve God. This Church is led by men and women with leadership gifts. We believe that when people connect relationally in smaller groups they will be transformed and grow as disciples. |
